I noticed your comment on my blog so I clicked on your link for your blog to find out about you. Very interesting blog. I, too, consider myself a spiritual person (as well as religious). You asked what people read. I am actually a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (also known as "Mormons"). If you're interested in reading something spiritual you ought to give the Book of Mormon a try (hence the nickname "Mormons"). It's a compilation of writings from ancient prophets who lived in North and South America from 600 BC to about 400 AD. Mormon was the prophet who put the writings together into one book. He lived until around 400 AD and passed the book to his son Moroni who also wrote a few things and then buried it (it was written on golden plates). Years later in the 1830s, Moroni- a spiritual being- came to a man named Joseph Smith and showed him where the golden plates were buried. He was an uneducated farmboy and through the power of God was able to translate the writings from Reformed Egyptian to English and called it The Book of Mormon after the man who compiled all the writings. It is a companion to the Bible and works hand-in-hand with it. It doesn't add to or replace it in any way. It's just another testament of Jesus Christ.
So there's a short synopsis of the book and how it came to be. If you're interested in reading it, I'm sure you can get it at the library, amazon.com, or if you have questions you can have missionaries from the church bring you a copy and answer questions. There's also our website at www.mormon.org where you can learn more and request the missonaries and the book. Anyway, I hope this isn't too much info thrown at you! Let me know if you want to know more. I've only given you a tiny taste. :) Good luck in your search for spirituality.
